SMU Komunitas Indonesia “Dari Kita Untuk Kita” SMU Komunitas Indonesia (SMUKI) is a well-recognized Indonesian cultural club in Singapore Management University (SMU). Currently running with more than 150 active members (and still growing!), SMUKI prides itself in being one of the active contributors to the vibrant student life in SMU.
Ever since its inception, SMUKI has embarked on a journey to raise the awareness of the Indonesian culture through showcases of our diverse traditional dances, music and costumes. We have been invited to participate in various events within or outside SMU. SMUKI also has its own annual music production, better known as GAYA (Gelar Budaya or Cultural Exhibition).
Apart from promoting the Indonesian culture, SMUKI also thrives to foster relationship between Singapore and Indonesia. As such, our membership extends to both Indonesians and non-Indonesians alike. Moreover, the club annually holds Indonesian language crash courses for SMU students, an introductory course to Bahasa Indonesia. SMUKI has also been entrusted by SMU Undergraduate Admission Office to organize SMU Campus Talk, an effort by SMU in attracting more Indonesian students to come to SMU. Our recent accomplishments include the “Most Outstanding CCA” award presented to us by SMU Students’ Association for our excellent contribution to the university life during the academic year 2007/2008. Do support SMUKI in our various activities as the 5th Executive Committee embarks on a journey to bring SMUKI to even greater height! | Sporty and active, SMUKI’s fifth president is one of the people who are responsible for the highly increased participation in the club with his helpful and outgoing personality. Previously the Vice President and Head of Logistics of the 4th SMUKI Executive Committee, Andy has been the major helping hand in most SMUKI activities and pioneered some of them such as the ‘Amazing Race’ styled orientation. As a President, Andy has a mission of bringing SMUKI to a greater height through the widening of SMUKI’s wings to reach out to more members as well as to increase collaboration with other clubs in SMU. He bears the responsibility of running the whole club and of course to maintain SMUKI’s reputation as one of the Most Outstanding CCA’s in SMU. Andy is well known as an all-rounded sportsperson and was voted once as the sexiest male SMUKI member. In his leisure time, he enjoys playing soccer, computer games and sleeping for more than 10 hours. SMUKI President Trivia: Andy is the first male SMUKI president after three long years of male-drought in SMUKI presidency. | Andy William President School of Information Systems Year 3 |

| Serla Rusli never thought that she would ever be active in SMUKI, let alone becoming the Vice President of the very club. She started out small, signing up as the gong player for GAYA 2007, after which she found her comfort within this club. Consequently, she was driven to run for the Head of Commerce for the 4th Executive Committee and is finally now the Vice President of the club.
As a Vice President, Serla’s main responsibility is to assist the duty of the President and supports him in the various club matters.
Serla has a particular liking for writing. She is the Assistant Publication Director of Accentuate, the SMU Accountancy Society magazine. However, the love of her life is still badminton. She was the Vice President of SMU Badminton Club. Combined with her passion for writing, it is no wonder that she thinks that her current job as a journalist for Badzine (a badminton webzine) is perfect for her.
Trivia: It is the first time in two years that the Vice President of SMUKI is younger than the President. | Serla Rusli Vice President School of Accountancy Year 3 |

| Bellina Lo possesses all the must-have traits of a secretary. Beautiful, organised and efficient, SMUKI relies heavily on her in the settlement of the club’s many administrative matters. Bellina gained the confidence from the members for this highly coveted position due to her convincing past records; she was an usher for GAYA 2008 and has vast experiences as a secretary during her junior college times.
Bellina’s perfectly smooth skin might deceive you into thinking that she is rather laidback and prefers to stay indoors. But at a second look at her, you will realize that she is actually very sporty and adventurous. She is also on her way to learn hip hop and ballroom dancing. Her feminine side is reflected in her love for cooking (and of course, finishing up her own dishes :P).

| Lius Adrian was one of the forefathers of The Begajulans, the proud players of Gamelan in GAYA 2007. Lius then stepped up on stage as King Jayanegara of Majapahit in GAYA 2008, after being heavily forged through numerous performances in StageIt, SMU theatre and drama club, during his first year. Lius also took up the role as the Head of Venue where he successfully secured Raffles Hotels’ Jubilee Hall for GAYA 2008.
As the one who handles the financial matters of the club, Lius must be extremely trustworthy and meticulous. He is entrusted to keep records of all monetary transactions and disburse money on behalf of the club. He is also responsible for allocating SMUKI’s financial resources to ensure that cost-minimization effort has been optimal.
Outside SMUKI, he is currently an active Head Teaching Assistant for Leadership and Team Building module in SMU and a Residential Senior of SMU Residence @ Prinsep. | Lius Adrian S. Putra Treasurer School of Business Year 3 |

| Valesca can be easily spotted among the Executive Committee through her bubbly and chirpy manners. Her enthusiasm is well translated into the various SMUKI activities as she earned her way to the Exco through her participation in various SMUKI events. Prior to her election as the Head of Welfare for the 5th Exco, Valesca was the subcommittee of the Welfare Department of the 4th Exco, and she ventured into dancing during GAYA 2008.
Together with Helen as the Heads of Welfare, one of her responsibilities is to gather as many members as possible and make them feel welcome in the SMUKI family. With her warm personality and ever-smiling face, Valesca is a perfect fit for her position.
Looks can be deceiving though. Valesca has a knack in public speaking and was active in debating during her high school days.

| Helen has participated in SMUKI activities even before she was officially accepted in SMU. She signed up as the subcommittee of the Make Up Team for GAYA 2007. She proceeded to become the Sponsorship Team subcommittee for GAYA 2008. Despite the fact that she has not dealt much in the welfare issues, her extremely organized working style complements her partner Valesca very well.
Helen’s pink digital camera is perhaps seen as often as herself. It has captured many memories including the various backstage ‘scenes’ in GAYA, the Vivace experience and many other things. Apart from clicking away her cameras, she has the necessity to go to the gym everyday for at least one hour – something that most people fail to do.
Trivia: The Heads of Welfare Helen and Valesca came from the same high school, SMUK1. The school happens to be the one from which SMUKI modeled its name from. | Helen Wijaya Welfare School of Business Year 2 |

| Better known as Della, this petite girl was perhaps one of the reasons GAYA 2008 was a huge success. As the Head of Properties, her vivid imagination and creativity had turned the stage of Jubilee Hall into a grand war scene and kingdom that wowed the audience. It was therefore only natural that she was almost unanimously voted to be the Head of Arts and Culture of SMUKI 5th Executive Committee, a post that demands strong dedication to arts.
Della has a passion for dancing. She was in Caderas Latinas, SMU’s latin dance club and is the newly appointed Head of Dance of the upcoming GAYA 2009. She was trying to venture into hip hop as well but was quickly told that her movement was way too feminine.
In case you are wondering, Della was neither born in Adelaide nor Sentosa Island. She came fresh from the village of Jogjakarta, Indonesia.

| Aldian Salim, better known as Sugi, has impressed many with his creativity and strong arts sense. His past involvements in SMUKI include being the cast of GAYA 2008 as well as the subcommittee of the Welfare Department of the 4th Executive Committee. Together with Della, he is responsible in the various subclubs of SMUKI (the Saman Club, Gamelan Club and the newly established Yapong Club).
Besides SMUKI, Sugi is also active in Symphonia. His specialty is in the French horn. There is never a dull moment with Sugi since this person has the ability to make everyone burst out laughing effortlessly with his out-of-this-world jokes. Meet him to believe it!

| Andy Giarto is also the fruit of members’ involvement in GAYA. Andy, previously the subcommittee from the Documentation Department in GAYA 2008, is now elected as the Head of Commerce. The Commerce Department supports the business pillar of SMUKI in promoting the Indonesian entrepreneurial spirit as well as taking care of the external affairs of the club.
Andy Giarto is another photographer in SMUKI. He was responsible for officially documenting the recent SMUKI Orientation – Journey to the East. Andy is also known to be meticulous and detailed. This perhaps explains why his GPA has constantly been drifting dangerously close to 4.0 almost every term.
Trivia: The Commerce Department is the one whose job scope has not been clearly defined up till now. Yet, this position still attracts much enthusiasm for the members to run for it. | Andy Giarto Commerce and External Affair School of Business Year 3 |

| Shandy can be said to be the ‘brain’ behind the designs of most of materials produced by SMUKI 5th Executive Committee. His proficiency and efficiency in handling the marketing and publication materials were gained through his experiences as the subcommittee of the Marketing and Publications Department of SMUKI 4th Executive Committee and GAYA 2008. Together with Jessica, he has managed to keep the standard of SMUKI’s marketing at an all-time high.
Yet, this Panda Man (his self-proclaimed nickname for reasons yet to be known) is not all about tech and geeks. He has a strong musical aptitude. It was no wonder that he was the Head of Music Department in GAYA 2008. He also recently picks up a new hobby in photography. This is certainly good news for the many camwhores that roam around SMUKI. Trivia: The 5th Exco is the first time SMUKI appoints two Heads of Marketing and Publication.
| Shandy Alidjaja Marketing and Publicity School of Information Systems Year 3 |

| Jessica was greatly involved in the production of GAYA 2008. She undertook the role of a dancer as well as a subcommittee of both the Sponsorship and Ticketing Departments. Jessica’s cheerful and spontaneous personality suits her current role as one of the Heads of Marketing and Publication. She is responsible for the designs of the emailers and the maintenance of the content of this very website, smukionline.com.
Jessica’s love for dancing is obvious. Besides dancing for various SMUKI activities, she is also active in Eurhythmix, SMU’s hip hop dance club. Her latest performance was in Dance Garage, a production by Eurhythmix that has successfully entertained a large number of audiences.
The only things that Jessica loves as much as dancing are perhaps eating and sleeping. This probably explains the shape of her face. | Jessica Novia Marketing and Publicity School of Business Year 2 |

| The Head of Logistics in SMUKI is not all about having muscles to carry bulky items. He also needs to be organised as the safety of SMUKI’s immense assets relies on him. Marthin clearly fits these two criteria. Besides being strongly built, he is also efficient and neat that SMUKI has never had any problems in the logistics department so far.
Marthin was also part of the cast of GAYA 2008. His line on stage somewhat became the catch line of many SMUKI members for a period of time. (Do ask him to say the line to know what we mean ;)
Just like most guys, Marthin is an avid football fan. Currently, Marthin is also known to have a special interest in the neighbouring country Thailand.
Trivia: The previous Head of Logistics is none other than the current President, Andy William
