This year SMUKI has made all the way to Chingay Parade! Taking place in F1 Pit Building on 19-20 February 2010, the parade has successfully entertained the audiences with one of its kind street performance concept. Chingay Parade is an annual street parade held in Singapore as part of Chinese New Year festivities. Today, the parade itself has evolved into a massive multi-cultural and international event, which also featured some participants from other countries. This year, the parade showcased the performance from Japan, China, Taiwan, Bhutan, and Indonesia. In conjunction with Indonesian participation, some of us had been given the chance to involve in parade to represent Indonesian students in Singapore. For this parade, all of us were required to wear our traditional attire, Batik. There were also participants from Solo, Indonesia who wore very big and colorful costumes. Their costumes were creatively done as one of the costumes resembled a peacock and the other looked like a giant flower. The Chingay Parade was definitely an exciting event for all of us since this was the first time Indonesian students studying in Singapore could involve in. We, as Indonesian students were very proud to have the opportunity to represent the diverse culture that Indonesian possesses.
